At the beginning the font is unsure in his words and actions, cant realise an answer to his questions: I acceptt make out, I befoolt know where it came from, from winter or a river. I dont know how or when, I did non know what to say. The character has also lost his identity: thither I was without a face, my eyes were ruse.

By the end of the poem, the speaker finds hims elf as occasion of something, part of the nothingness, mystery, part of the abyss.
